Love Will is Patrick’s personal exploration of Shakespeare’s art and its impact on his life. Patrick’s father Robert (seen at left as Macbeth in 1963) was a classical actor and largely responsible for Patrick’s passion for Shakespeare. Love Will traces that passion from Patrick’s childhood summers at The Oregon Shakespeare Festival to the present day. Through a series of scenes, monologues, and personal recollections, the audience comes to know Patrick and his father Bob, as well as Will Shakespeare and his father John. They also come to care deeply about Shakespeare’s son, Hamlet, who died at the age of eleven.
Love Will explores the nature of love in all its manifestations, and the power of the will to overcome all obstacles. It is a moving, funny and heartfelt new play, scheduled to debut with readings in the Spring of 2011.
